I made the trek into Smiths Falls to capture the beginning of the Chalk River Subdivision. This is where it left the yard in Smiths Falls and began it's long journey to North Bay, Ontario. The rails were left in until the first road crossing to allow trains arriving into Smiths Falls from Montreal room off of the main when they have drops to do in Smiths Falls. They can run up a mile or so of former Chalk trackage. As the pictures show, it is regularly used to a point. In using this track, they are completely off the mains for the Belleville and Winchester subs. As we see, some things are still visible such as a signal base, control box, whistle post, mile marker, etc.
